Sorry, this is the poorly lit meal.

We got in out of the rain, and promptly ordered martinis. Foreground is pomegranate, behind that is pineapple upside down cake.

I had actually ordered the corn and andouille soup, but they 86'd that so I got the shrimp and crabmeat cornbread patty, and holy shit am I glad I did. I must try and make this. I'm not even sure how to describe the sauce, but creamy and spicy and delicious.

Last year's Christmas Cookies and recent bakings!

I made these while visiting State-side last year.

They were just simple sugar cookies, butter cream and decorative icing with red hots for the holly-berries. I was rather sheepish presenting them but they were such a hit I'm going to offer them to the family hosting me this year.

Banana Bread

This actually is the best banana bread you will ever taste. I'm serious. Whichever minion of Martha's came up with it deserves a nice firm handshake and a cigar. Or something. Anyways, this is the moistest (moistest?) banana bread you will taste. It keeps really well, although I don't think you'll have to worry about that.

chocolate cherry brownies

The tiny pieces of chopped dried cherry lended a subtle fruity tang to the velvety melt-in-your-mouth deep-flavoured brownies. Moist, chocolatey, and topped with the prettiest characteristic paper-thin crust, these smooth flourless-cake-like brownies may not be the signature fudgey chewy type that I love, but these dark brown squares are so packed full of flavour that it definitely deserve a place on your next party table, or in the Christmas giftbox you’re bringing over to your friend’s.

Hop over to my foodblog for the recipe!

My favourite restaurant in Sydney - my family ate there every night for an entire week. My favourite part was watching the guy who cuts the dumpling dough and then weighs and measures them periodically to make sure they're all exactly the same.

More at my food comic a wishful pantry.
